Writer Wednesday

I am writing furiously to get my WIP done before Christmas. Here's another UNEDITED sneak peek into Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Book Three in the Stafford Brothers series.

He’s still hadn’t spoken to his father, and he wanted it to stay that way, but he needed to return Charles’ call. Charles, one of his twin brothers, was only eighteen months younger than him, and he was closest to him of all his brothers. He needed to talk to someone, so scrolled through his contact list.

“I got your message, but I wasn’t in the mood to talk, man.”

“How’re you doing?” Charles asked, with concern deepening his voice.

“I’m doing,” he said, gazing down at his photo in the article on the folded newspaper he’d carried out of the conference room.“I just left a meeting with my boss, the station manager, and my attorney. The station decided if I voluntarily submit to therapy, they won’t fire me even though I broke the morals clause in my contract. At least I still have my job.”

“They’re making you go to therapy for an isolated incident?”

Greg hesitated. “Well…the decision wasn’t just based on what happened yesterday.”

“What do you mean?”

“Ah…once the word got out, some of the women in the office started spilling their guts.”

“What did they have to spill?”

“Nothing major.” He groaned. “They were just…concerned about how many of them did the spilling.”

“Damn, man! Were you popping every female on the staff?”

“No,” Greg snickered. “And it amazes me how they are suddenly so willing to go public about a private affair.”

“There’s a bigger issue going on here, don’t you think?” Charles said, sounding graver than Greg thought necessary. “I noticed it when I stayed with you. Maybe it’s time you faced up to what’s happening.”

Greg ground his teeth at the censure in his brother’s tone, and he immediately went on the defensive. “Lots of people do threesomes. Why is it a crime when I do it?”

“It’s not a crime, but the way you seem to be taking chances, I wonder if it’s something that happens every now and then or whether it’s become your lifestyle.”

“My lifestyle? Seriously? You’re talking as if I’m some kind of deviant. I like sex, and I don’t care to be tied down to one woman.”

“I know I sound like Mama and Daddy, but what’s wrong with finding a nice girl and settling down? It’s not as bad as you might think. In fact, it’s not bad at all.”

“What? Did you ever think maybe it’s just not in the cards for me?”

“Why would you think it isn’t?”

“Because if that was the case, one woman would grab my attention and hold it. It just hasn’t happened. They all grab my attention, for about twenty minutes.”

“You’re not eighteen anymore, Greg. There comes a time when you have to grow up.”
This sage advice coming from his younger brother grated on his nerves. “So because I don’t want a ball and chain around my ankle, that makes me immature?”

“Just the fact that you see a good woman as a shackle shows how much growing up you need to do.”

“I expected Daddy to chew me out, but not you. Look, I don’t have time for this. I’ve gotta go.”

“Yeah, right. You just don’t want to hear the truth. Let me say this before you hang up on me. A year ago, I didn’t think there was anyone special out there for me either, but I met Adanna and everything changed. Marc said the same thing about him and Gianne. We don’t know what the future holds.”

“What if it doesn’t hold anything but more of the same?”

“You don’t really believe that.”

“I don’t know what I believe anymore.”

“Maybe going to therapy will help you figure it out. I’m glad you kept your job. Keep in touch, will you?”

The best things in life...

I'm sure you've heard the old saying, "The best things in life are free." There is much truth to that old adage, especially when it comes to books.

Right now I have two novels that are available for free download:

My novella, YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW, is always free

One year ago, personal chef Jan Davis signed her divorce papers after a miserable twenty-five-year marriage. She is single again, and romantic attention is as foreign to her as ancient Carthaginian cuisine. When she meets her new client, sports management agent Mac Sinclair, who is eleven years younger, Jan’s life takes a complete turnaround. She’s thrilled, but everyone in her life isn’t as pleased. - Also free on Kobo and Smashwords.

AIN'T TOO PROUD TO BEG is also free to borrow on KindleUnlimited.

Hollywood film star Vaughn Breland has wrecked his beloved Lamborghini, lost his latest movie role, the use of his legs and possibly his fabulous good looks. He’s depressed and mad at the world then he meets Trenyce Clark, his new physical therapist. Trenyce, and her beautiful three-year-old daughter, give him a new outlook on life. -

Accepting Logan’s marriage proposal was the most exciting event of Lorna’s life. But deciding in what country to marry her fiancĂ© proved to be more than a tearful ordeal. When Lorna’s dad announced unexpected news, the wedding wheels spun in a different direction.

With other family members stirring conflict, would there be a wedding? Or would their shared kiss deepen their desire?

Logan half-glared and half-grinned at Lorna. "Do you want to get us knocked out?" He railed, suppressing a smile as he returned his face to the road ahead. "Don't turn me on while I’m driving, Lorna. Else, I might find a cozy place to take you up on your offer."
Grinning from ear-to-ear, she ran her fingers up and down her thighs. Threading them through her ribbed jeans, she threw him a subtle stare and formed her round lips into a kiss.
Logan did a double take. "Have you been taking classes on how to ensnare me with your feminine wiles, Lorna? Are you promising me a randy sex session?"
Instead of answering, Lorna ran her forefinger across her lips and slid it down her narrow chin and long neck. She blew him a kiss and dipped the same finger into her cleavage. Her gaze remained on the street ahead.
"Lorna, you're heating me up," Logan groaned, his large hands gripping the wheel as he exhaled sharply.
When she didn't stop, Logan swung the wheel, turned right and drove into a quiet neighbourhood. In a flash, he reached for her seat, reclined it to sleeping position and leaned across her body.
Blood coursed through her veins and pounded in her ears and her breath came out in short spurts. Every pore in her body lit up as his chest pushed against her breasts. Logan's fingers held her neck as he ground his lips over hers, possessing every inch of her mouth with hot kisses. Her nipples budded and strained against his muscled chest, sending scorching fire ripping through the spot between her thighs.

I want to thank everyone who heeded my last entry and retweeted for me while I was doing the wedding thing.

We had the most fabulous time, and as a romance author, I get a special excitement over weddings. Just wanted to share some of the pictures from my only niece's wedding weekend...
Rehearsal Dinner at Two Urban Licks restaurant, Atlanta

Wedding rehearsal at The Peachtree Club

View from the wedding venue's 28th floor Skyline Terrace

Another view from the terrace

The beautiful bridal party

My sister and I were honored to walk in the ceremony in the stead of the bride's late mother

The gorgeous bride

The ceremony

The new couple!

Dinner was held inside the club then the terrace was taken over by the DJ and the dancers! Most of my pictures from the reception didn't come out, because by then it was dark, and my flash wasn't enough. I'll just say that I danced until my feet hurt!

It was the best wedding in history...
